Wasn't thrilled to see one table being served. But it actually turned it pretty good. Every thing we ordered was fresh and good. Service was excellent. Waiter had two tables to serve. So duh? I'll be back. Sorry for a vague review. I forgot what I ate.

This review is another entry in my tour of the places in south Florida Guy Fieri has eaten at with his show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. I have a Yelp collection if you want to follow along with my adventures. The show first aired in 2006 and it is on its 42nd season of Guy's road trips across America where he highlights some of America's most underrated and delicious local eats. Blackbrick was opened in 2013 in Midtown Miami by chef Chef Richard Hales who wanted to serve what he called modern Chinese cuisine.. He had previously opened Sakaya Kitchen in the same neighborhood. Guy visited in 2017 on the Triple DDD Nation, Meat Lovers episode when Blackbrick was the 1000th DDD location. He claims to be obsessed with their dan dan mian, house-made bucatini noodle with chili oil, Sichuan pork and peanut. The restaurant was featured again in 2000 in Old faces, New Places, a special episode of the show where Guy caught up with some of the past restaurants to see how they were coping with lockdown during Covid. Guy chatted with Chef Hales over zoom and they virtually cooked a meal together. Street parking in Midtown is tight but there is a parking garage only a block away for $5. I had wanted to take my friend to another restaurant a few doors down but they absolutely would not seat us. Knowing my love of DDD's, my friend suggested this restaurant instead and it all worked out for the best. When we sat down for lunch we were the only people in the restaurant but they were busy with the takeout orders. The menu is modern Chinese Sichuan cuisine with a few popular American Chinese dishes. Noodles are made in house and dishes are served with seasonal vegetables. They have a few seats inside but the weather was so beautiful that we opted to dine at one of their sidewalk tables. A Yelp check in netted us a free order of delectable fried chicken dumplings which Guy had also sampled. They check in was only supposed to be good for dinner but our very kind server Anthony hooked us up. Alcohol menu selections include beer, wine. and Sake. We were pleased to see that they offered lunch specials for $18.60 which included a selection from the Our Specialties or Chines Classics. For our meal my friend and I both ordered the Orange Peel flank steal ($2 up charge) from the Our Specialties that came with our choice of jasmine rice. This is as far from your local Chinese take out joint as can be, Large tender slices of beef were covered in the most delectable citrus flavored sauce. I could have licked the plate clean. The Jasmine rice was the perfect accompaniment to soak up all the delicious sauce. Note that a 20 percent tip is automatically included in your bill. Anthony more than deserved it. Guy never steers me wrong. I loved my visit here and now I am very interested in checking out Sakaya. Look for the new Blackbrick soon to open in Tampa!

Overall good meal. It is located in the heart of midtown, and has outdoor seating available. They have great cocktails with a daily rotating menu and a narrowed menu that specialized on a true Chinese experience. My favorite dishes were the general tso chicken, the chicken wings and bok choy.

So where to go for a holiday lunch with my Team? They say you are the Yelper you pick. OMG the pressure is on and the bar has been raised what to do? Thankfully I bookmarked this place prior due to all the great reviews. So we Uber over from the office but surprisingly I see parking on the street outside this restaurant. Located in Midtown in Downtown Miami this is one of many businesses located in this part of town. Never been so it was exciting to try someplace new. We ate inside as it was a bit cold and windy out on this Christmas Eve day. The waitress immediately acknowledged us and had us take a seat in the front near the window. Noticed a great cocktail menu but skipped as it is a work day as well as it would probably just put me to sleep. We went with our servers suggestions and started with a shareable plate of egg rolls. Please note this isn't your typical egg roll nor the dipping sauce only the outside wrapper was the same. Than we had a chicken dish yeah too hungry to get the formal names. When I go back I will have to show the photos lol. The chicken was spicy but not too much the white rice really helped to cool it down. The beef dish was milder as well as very flavorful. Lastly a fried rice with ginormous shrimp. Note with Yelp check in you get a free chicken fried dumpling. Needless to say too much food and one of the Team we insisted that she take it home. Too delicious to waste and we all got fortune cookies in the end. Now the only thing prices were a bit higher than you would expect for Chinese however I truly believe you get what you pay for and everything was delicious. Lunch menu would be nice if you are eating for one but wasn't an option. The place was empty but so was the building where I work so must be the holiday. Great for us as we left and Ubered back to work. Would definitely go back soon and also investigate if they do delivery
